Technical
Pot stills perform batch distillation with limited reflux, operating near the ethanol–water azeotrope at ~78–80 °C, yielding ~95 % ABV. Column stills use fractional distillation across multiple equilibrium stages, creating a temperature gradient from ~78 °C at the top to ~100 °C at the bottom, enabling >99 % ABV and continuous operation.
